Vampires In Love

Description

I have received some very strange, ridiculous comments from people over this illustration. I guess there are some modern vampire fans (apparently with no sense of history) who are bitterly opposed to the presentation of vampires as hideous monsters with sharp fangs. Forget Bram Stoker - these people are convinced that all vampires should look like Brad Pitt in "Interview with a Vampire" or those new kids in the "Twilight" movies... instead of Max Shreck in "Nosferatu". Show them an old-fashioned, scary vampire, and it seems that they get "offended". Yes it is true, and I find this completely baffling... as any rational person would.

I have been equally amazed and amused by some of the angry comments I've gotten from people who are upset that I drew an "ugly" vampire in love. I guess "ugly" vampires can't feel the emotions of love or desire - only physically attractive vampires can... according to fans of Anne Rice and Twilight.

Scroll down to read the bizarre comments from these surprisingly sensitive, and surprisingly rude individuals.

I love vampires too, and I also have strong opinions about how they should be depicted. But they are make believe, fictional characters. Does it really ruin your day if someone depicts them differently than your preferred version?! People must live very easy lives to be bothered by something as trivial as this.

That said, I stick with the ORIGINAL, CLASSIC vision... of Vampires being scary, evil, undead creatures straight outta the grave. Here to ravage humans and drink blood, and turn into bats and fly away.

The pretty-boy, post-modern, emo vampires are pathetic, embarrassing whimps if you ask me.
