Trick Or Treat by BryanBaugh Trick Or Treat by BryanBaugh
This illustration was done as a commission assignment. The client had this very specific scene in mind, described it to me in extreme detail, and asked if I could draw it. He also asked me to do a second illustration which would continue the story. What you see here is the first of the client's humorous little two-part story.

I forget what exactly went wrong... but I ran into a schedule problem where my work on the second illustration got delayed, then I ended up having to finish it very quickly in order to get it shipped out to the client within a reasonable time-frame. But I was in such a rush, that I forgot to scan that second illustration, before shipping. I am not usually so careless about such things, but that time, I sure was. So I have no digital file of the second illustration, and thus cannot post "part-two" of the little story the client asked me to draw. Oh well.

The piece was done in pen and ink on bristol board. I added the gray tones in Photoshop. Sorry color art fans, I have no plans to color this one.

Hi there Mr Baugh, I have this sort of OC character named Julian Foxis. I recently asked DAVECARTOONS to do a drawing for me. Keep in mind, he was a TUFF Puppy OC, so if you would like to draw him as human instead, than I have no issue. For a little inspiration, you may want to visit DAVECARTOON'S page. If you do not want to do so, leave me a message either here, in the deviantart message thing, on on my fanfiction account, Jacksin. I did have these two extra scrnarios where Julian is Freddy Krueger, or Slenderman. If you would like to do this, please let me know, but if not, that's cool.

SINcerely,
Jacksin

This is one of my favorites of yours, but now that I know there's a second part, it's kind of driving me crazy not knowing the ending. Please tell me, I must know!

It's cool. Sorry to bring up such an old piece, I just get a little OCD with stuff like this. I think I might have a problem. Awesome work all the same.

No problem bringing up an old piece. But this was a case of a commission where the client hired me to do 2 full sized illustrations, loaded with details which were clearly dictated to me, and then, I seem to recall the client being very anxious to see it finished and... well... he sorta hurried me through it... instead of letting me work my own pace. Oh well I guess "my own pace" was too slow for him. But that probably explains why it's all a blur in my mind. And I must have felt rushed if I didn't even take time to scan it before shipping. Dumb move, now I don't even have a copy. Never happened to me before or since... so that should tell you this was an unusual situation. I honestly can't even remember what that second illustration ended up looking like. Oh well. Some art projects are better (or maybe just clearer) memories than others. Don't get me wrong, the client was not a bad guy, just sort of impatient, and I really need to be left alone to work at my own speed on these things. He maybe just didn't understand that. It happens sometimes.

great job I think for this picture it should be black and white it just fits the drawing better . Well I think so. does she have a weapon behind that door ? or is she screwed ? haha

Haha, I don't know if she has a weapon or not! I did this drawing for a client who hired me to do it. It was all the client's idea and based on the client's very detailed description. He put so many ideas into it that there wasn't much room for me to make up anything extra. I know the image looks simple but it was actually a challenge to include every thing he wanted in there. I never felt that it turned out very well. I think I felt a little restricted and rushed when I was working on it.

I think it turned out very well , but I know how you feel a lot of my friends want me to draw specific things for them and they tell me how they see the picture in their eyes which is totally different from how I would want to draw it.

Probably not - I finished it much later than planned and wanted to send it to the buyer right away so mailed it off without taking the time to scan it. Oh well. I like Part 1 better myself anyway.

It sad really... If you notice in the first movie, they really put labor into the details of the zombies. Example... If you look at the dogs in the first movie, they actually had their faces torn up and their throats missing. In the second, they just slapped some rubber stuff on 'em and sent them out. What also made me angry is the story line. WTF Is wrong with them?! If your gonna make a REALLY good movie, BASE IT MOSTLY ON THE GAMES OR BOOKS!!!! There is no mention about a genetically enhances chick named Alice in any of the games I recall. AND WHERE'S WESKER?!

The Resident Evil movies totally sucked in my mind. The only part I found enjoyable to watch was the few seconds where you get to see Milla Javovich stark naked. But everything else in those films is completely lame.

Great image, and I love B&W work. This is very bold and emotive, no need for colour as the intensity of the lines and the solid black create more than enough mood. Cant wait to see what angle you take for the follow up image.

I was expecting Sammi Curr from the movie trick or treat (which is on my mind 'cuz of the latest issue of Hack/Slash), but this is cool too. Color is for suckers (except for red). Can't wait for the next one!

Funny you should mention Hack/Slash. I did the "alternate" cover illustration for... I think it's either issue #2 or #3. Actually you can see what it looks like here in my DA Gallery: [link]
