You gotta really know your horror movies to appreciate this one! The lovable killer featured in this illustration is Madman Marz, from the movie "Madman". Although I believe the film has also has been released under alternate titles. Anyway, this is my tribute to a super obscure horror character from a super obscure 1980's horror movie.
My wife Monica, who usually loves my artwork, was really disturbed by this one, for some reason.
UPDATE: A couple of months after I posted this illustration, I came home from work one day to find a message on my answering machine. A gravelly, but friendly voice with an East Coast accent said, "I hope I have the right number... I am trying to reach Bryan Baugh. My name is Paul Ehlers and in 1982 I played a character called Madman Marz in a horror movie called Madman. A friend of mine recently showed me the drawing you did of Madman Marz, posted on a website, and I love it. I would love to know how I can acquire a print of it... Call me back when you have a chance, I'd love to talk to you about this."
This was a wonderful shock. I certainly did call him back and had quite a fun discussion. Turns out that we have a lot of the same favorite movies, comic books, monsters, and artists. After a while it was no different than talking to any of my other friends and I forgot all about the insanely cool and surreal fact that I was on the phone with Madman Marz himself! Since then we've had several more pleasant conversations, and I am proud to say that Paul "Madman Marz" Ehlers, really has become a friend. ...So the next time you smarty pants kids feel tempted to criticize one of my drawings, just remember the big guy with the rotted nose and bloody axe is a buddy of mine! Haha!!
HA HA HA I love it!!!! I was starting to think I would never see anything new form you again!!!!!!! The girl is really cute and I like how you made the picture dark!!!! GREAT JOB Bryan!!!!!
Dang Bryan!
I just saw the remake of HILLS HAVE EYES last night, so THIS is creepin' me out!!!! There was a crazy guy with an axe in that movie as well...
I haven't seen the movie you are talking about, but I have seen "I, MADMAN"

That's cool! I like the way the colors/textures of the background work as shades of each other. It really makes the action and the expressive faces come to the fore.
I'll have to look up this flick. I don't recall it right off.
DeviantART has partnered with FAIR to help promote equality through The Love Unites Shepard Fairey Equality Project. We're asking deviants to align themselves with this cause and have their work judged by Shepard Fairey himself!
For those who have many watchers, and for those who dont have many, it is hard to know how one retains that interest as well as receive more. This article explores the basics of watchers and how we react to certain situations. Although it does not affect some deviants, and the tips are generally related to common sense, we hope the article is a worthwhile read and that the majority learn something from reading this.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

The grass on the drawing is really nice and I like the colors you chose for this one.
