I would never try to convince anyone that Return of the Jedi was the best-made, or most finely-crafted film in the Star Wars series, but I gotta say, it was always my favorite. People always complain about the Ewoks. I don't give a crap about the Ewoks. I'm talking about the whole first half of the movie, which is nothing but wall-to-wall monsters and the heroine of our story in a hotsy totsy little slave girl outfit. It's pure, undiluted, unpretentious, pulp fantasy visual material. When I am having a "bad drawing day" where I just can't get inspired, I sit down and watch the first half of Return of the Jedi, and by the time that Sail Barge blows up, I am totally pumped and ready to go.
