Allhallowtide 3 by BryanBaugh Allhallowtide 3 by BryanBaugh
The season when monsters celebrate! Third drawing in a little series. "Allhallowtide" is an old word that basically means the last days of October, up to November. Or rather: All Hallow's Eve, All Saint's Day, All Soul's Day.

All of these costume designs are awesome. I really like the swamp creature.

The color scheme for all of these works really well too. I really like how the lines almost look printed.

Thanks for the comments! The little lizard-kid character made me laugh even while I was drawing it!
Making the lines look like old fashioned poster printing is an easy trick, it's just a matter of using brown lines instead of black lines!

I think it's partially the brown lines, and partially the way that you layer the colors of the lines. For example, that ghost in the background looks especially printed.

Mmm... Well... that was the original plan, of course! But I had specific compositions planned for each numbered day (just in terms of the way the shapes and sizes balance out from one to the next). Then for no good reason at all, I drew them out of chronological order! And the way it ended up... personally I think #1 and #4 are my two favorites.

But one thing I've learned over the years, doing this art-thing... The artist's favorite piece is almost NEVER the audience's favorite. Likewise the piece the artist considers the weakest, the audience usually loves the most. That's been my experience anyway, and most other artists I know say the same thing. The audience reaction is almost always exactly the opposite of whatever the artist thinks!
So, take my opinion about "which one turned out best" with a grain of salt!

That is, of course, alright, because your art is f-king fantastic and the order doesn't really matter. But I can't wait to see Number Four.

This, it seems, is true...still, I like to know the artist's personal opinion...
